Melina Mercouri

Melina was the one of the greatest female figures of modern Greece and known as the last Greek goddess. She was a striking woman, a stage and movie actress of international fame, and a politician who left her mark on Greek culture.

She was the first politician who fought for the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to their home, Greece, thus beginning the international campaign of their return.
